Thank you for your feedback on our draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025. We are currently reviewing submissions and finalising the plan.

The final plan will be presented at the November Council meeting on Tuesday 16 November, 2021.

Under the Domestic Animals Act 1994, every Victorian Council is required to develop and implement a plan every four years.

More than 190 people shared their feedback on domestic animal management via our online survey earlier this year. The key issues identified were:

  • Additional dog parks and off-leash areas throughout the municipality
  • Reducing the number of stray and wandering cats and nuisance complaints
  • Promotion of the importance of desexing and availability of low cost desexing programs
  • Increased promotion about responsible pet ownership and availability of educational material and online resources

The Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 will set out procedures for managing dogs and cats which will then determine how we invest our time and resources over the next four years.

The plan will outline how we will support domestic animal management including the safety and wellbeing of the entire community and the promotion of responsible pet ownership.
