Background
Swan Hill Rural City Council has commenced a strategic planning project — the Industrial Land Use Strategy 2025 — to review the amount and suitability of land currently zoned for industrial purposes across the entire municipality. As part of the initial consultation phase, we are seeking your input on a range of investigation areas identified for potential rezoning to support future industrial use.
Council plays a key role in supporting an efficient planning system that fosters investment and employment growth. A core component of this is ensuring there is an adequate and well-distributed supply of industrial land to meet the needs of businesses, industry, and the broader community across the municipality.
The Strategy will offer residents, businesses, and stakeholders clearer guidance on future industrial land use and development opportunities, while also ensuring that any new development contributes positively to local amenity and environmental outcomes.
The Industrial Futures Discussion Paper marks the first step in shaping a long-term strategy to guide industrial land use and development across the municipality over the next 15 years.
Four sites located throughout the municipality have been identified for potential rezoning to an Industrial Zone as part of this discussion paper. Council is now inviting community feedback on these sites — or suggestions for other suitable locations — to help ensure an adequate and sustainable supply of industrial land for the future needs of the entire municipality.
