Swan Hill Rural City Council is proposing to name a road “Laura Kirby Boulevard” and is now seeking public feedback.

The yet to be constructed road will form the main arterial through the South West Development from Yana Street and will eventually link to Swan Hill Sea Lake Road.

“Laura Kirby” was selected from the Asset Naming Masterlist.

Laura Kirby (1914-1991) led the development of Wandarrah Aboriginal Centre in the CBD in the 1960’s.

In the 1970’s, Laura was the Inagural Director of the Aboringinal Education Commmitee and is remembered as making an outstanding contribution to the education of both Aboriginal and non-aboriginal students, teaching her own history and culture within our schools through the 70’s and 80's.
